Eternabond tape. Does it really stop RV roof leaks

Eternabond tape. Does it really stop RV roof leaks?

To most RV owners, nothing is more irritating than pesky roof leaks. However, finding a solution is the primary goal of every committed RVer. To stay from such problems, you need an efficient and effective sealant that won’t stain or crack an RV roof.

In the 20th century, we would cover the damaged area with duct tape or squirt on some silicone, but such repairs were only temporary. Now it’s not the time to reapplying old caulking. Thanks to Eternabond tape.

It has become the most common, hassle-free and quick product for RV leak repairs. Let’s solve the question ‘Eternabond tape. Does it really stop RV roof leaks?

Eternabond tape isn’t the best solution

To stop a leak, you must be determined to find and come up with a permanent solution. Most people seem to prefer Eternabond tape as their answer. While you apply the tape to roof sides, the expectations are that any leaks and other roof issues will be eliminated.

Could it be a miracle product? Eternabond tapes found in the local market are extremely sticky. Some of these products are annoying and seem to be the stickiest stuff.

Rolls of these tapes are about 4-5 inches wide and usually feature rolls of several feet. Dealers in RV parts departments in the US recommend Eternabond for leaks every day.

In fact, vendors have little experience with the tapes. Theirs is to sell but and don’t know the practical and end result.

The damage could be extensive

You’ll find trapped water underneath these tapes when the RV roof is ready for spraying FlexArmor. Nonetheless, the only instance you’ll find no water is when Eternabond tape has been applied before the RV at the factory and no outside exposure ever.

Even when there are no signs of leakages, the tape makes the air pocket that comes with moisture.

Eventually, when the temp changes, condensation takes place. Sealant tapes cause water damage, hence may not be the real preventative measure.

Can water get in or out?

Actually, the patch tapes prevent water from interfering with your roof. However, the water that already exists in your roof and which cannot evaporate becomes the newest threat.

The tapes will not completely solve the roof’s problems. Applying the tapes will also keep all the underlying pieces of wood wet. Moisture trapping brings more damage to the RV roof as compared to the crack in the caulking.

This is because the water flowing in a crack will undergo a process of evaporating. As a result, the wood slowly rots. Trapping the water using sealant tapes will automatically increase the wood deterioration rate.

The owner thinks they’re done with the problem only to realize a wood rot later after few months.

When the Eternabond tape is the best solution

The tape can still do the job and stop any leaks. The Eternabond tapes are incredibly better than liquid sealants. Instant results and easy to use! They’re perfect for emergency roof repairs and solutions in the field.

Placing a sealant tape appropriately over the tears will prevent water from getting in. No need to worry, and as you’ll save your trip. Although, you need permanent roof repairs once your trip is over.
