What can you run on a 2000 Watt generator?
A generator put simply is a machine that churns out electricity from diesel. Though it doesn’t have many different forms, they do come out with different capacities ranging from a 4-watt generator to 18,000 megawatts.
Normally you would think that the 4-watt generator is just as useless the 18,000 MW generator, and I completely agree with you or at least I would, but as a wise man once said: nothing is ever useless, just useless people. Everything has a use, however, if we were to talk about the so-called “best” generator, it would either be a 5000 watt or a 2000 watt generator. The reason I had just pointed out two rather than a single would be the fact that many go camping and would bring a generator out.
The Ideal generator
From the perspective of a family using a generator at home, yes the ideal generator would be to use a 5000-watt generator. But being honest, from personal experience it is considered overkill. When would a person use a generator? It’s only when the power gets cut. And even so, you wouldn’t need to power everything when the power gets cut, just the essential. So, therefore to me, the best generator to use in a house would be a 2000 watt generator.

Some essentials that can be powered by a 2000 Watt generator.
Some of these essentials being: a few power ports, a fridge along with the freezer, lights, and a furnace to boot. If we want to talk separately, running a fridge on a 2000W generator is no issue, however, the problem arises when we want to use multiple elements together. Running a 500W freezer (which is what most fridge/freezers require) along with a single stove. This would work yet it wouldn’t ruin everything that you would need. So a microwave that uses 650 watts for cooking purposes and a 500-watt refrigerator would leave enough power from the generator to use for lights and electrical power ports.

Using a camper (recreational vehicle)
Reiterating what I said before: A 2000 watt generator is more than enough for camping purposes. The setup of a camper is quite similar to what you have in a regular home. Though the only shortcoming is that… well, it’s tiny. Tiny doesn’t just simply mean small I just meant it in a relatively.
We are used to walking into different rooms for each and every need but in a camper, everything is so convenient. It’s all in one room. So what you would need is practically the same as in your house. A fridge, microwave, stove, A/C and the like. And just like the ideal setup in the house, the generator would run the same way. But because you are in a camper the equipment you would use requires less power because you wouldn’t require it at all times unlike in a house. The only problem you would get in a camper is the hot water.
You could use the 2000 watt generator to power up the sump pumps. It will take about 1200 starting surge then steady out at about 800 while you use it. However, even if you stop all power consumption the minimum 1-liter water heater still requires about 3000 watts making it near impossible. However, there is always a solution to every problem. Using a simple 1000 watt immersion water heater into a bucket of water. You’ve got your hot water and everything else running properly.
When you are not taking a bath and you are not cooking then you’ve got enough power to run the lights and an A/C. A small hiccup, however, is the fact that it might require a starting surge of 2200 watts but then evens out 1500 watts.
Simply put however if you want to be able to run everything at once altogether (which I highly doubt you would, or anyone else for that matter) I would suggest a 3600-watt generator as it is able to keep up with the surges and keep all the other electrical equipment happy.

The 2000 watt generator could power the following appliances effectively:
– A deep freezer works on a 500 watt with an electric stove that can run effectively on the generator.
OR
-Run a freezer with a microwave consisting of 650 watts as they can also work efficiently too
Will a 2000 watt generator run an air conditioner?
A 2000 watt generator can run your air conditioner but the basic or lower wattage an AC will consist of a minimum 2200W and needs a continuous power of around 1500W. Hence it could carry the load when you start the appliance but may start taking the load once it was running.

5. Will a 2000 watt generator run a welder?
Hence it depends on the type or size of welder which is to be used for welding if it comprises a power of less than 2000 watt than it can run efficiently over a 2000 watt generator or vice versa.
Hence, calculate the power usage capacity of your household or office appliances and purchase the most efficient generator according to your different needs or requirements.
