12 Best Campgrounds & RV Parks in Salt Lake City, Utah

Salt Lake City, Utah has some great things to see outdoors. There are mountains and there are many events in Salt Lake City such as musical shows and museums. Instead of worrying about where to get a hotel room, visitors can stay in their RV. These are 12 of the best campgrounds and RV parks in Salt Lake City.

1. Pony Express RV Resort

For those that like outdoor activity this campground is located near the Jordan River State Recreational areas where there is plenty to do outside. A person can take a trip to the mountains and then enjoy the downtown city life. This campground is just minutes from the airport and all of the action.

2. Salt Lake City KOA

This park is close to downtown yet offers some peace from the city. There are plenty of places to go hiking and boating. There are restaurants right on the grounds and there are even campfires. This site also has a swimming pool and a hot tub. A family can rent a grill and they can use the laundry mat while they are there.

3. Park City RV Resort

This is located in the mountains and the city is only a couple of minutes away. A person can enjoy hiking and skiing. This campground is close to the History Museum of Utah. A person can also check out the Twin Peaks and the Wasatch Mountain State Park. This site has space for RVs that are up to 75 feet long. There is also a swimming pool and bathhouse for visitors to use.

4. Mountain Valley RV Resort

This resort is good for travels that are looking to enjoy the outdoors and some quiet. They can visit the Wasatch Mountain State Park and go skiing during the cooler months. There is cable and wifi available when someone wants to relax. There is also a spa and a dog park. The clubhouse on-site has many games, a kitchen, and even a pool table.

5. River’s Edge RV Resort

This resort is located near the Jordanelle Reservoir dam and is a great place for those that want to enjoy nature. They can enjoy boating and there is plenty of space to lookup an RV. There are laundry and showers on site. There is also a rec center. A person can park their RV here and attend some of the best events in Salt Lake City such as the music festivals.

6. Mountain Shadows RV Park

This park is a rustic getaway from the city. A person can go hiking or skiing. There is a lot to do on the campsite so a person can hang around and have a good time here too. There are hot tubs inside and outside. Guests have said that this park is one of the cleanest they have ever seen.

7. Lagoon RV Park and Campground

This park is right next to the Lagoon amusement park and is close to the downtown area. This campground is also close to the Antelope Island State Park. There is a lot to do for indoor and outdoor entertainment.

8. Cherry Hill Camping Resort

This campground is good for those that want to see the city and nature. The park is close to the Cherry Hill amusement parks. Visitors will have access to the water park, a miniature golf course, and other attractions. There is an outdoor playground on site as well as many facilities for those that are visiting.

9. Antelope Island State Park

This is one of the biggest islands in the area and there is plenty to do for visitors. A person can walk the train and see all the different types of wildlife. A person can then visit downtown later on in the evening. There is a campground attached to the park that will allow a person to have a good visit.

10. American Fork Canyon Camping

This camping is located close to the city and looks great in all seasons. There are many sites open but reservations are recommended for the busy weeks. There are trails for biking and there are many places to play sports and enjoy nature.

11. East Canyon State Park

This park has a 608-acre reservoir and it runs along the Mormon Pioneer National Historic Trail. This has a lot of history behind it. There are also places to enjoy some outdoor activities including boating, jet skiing, fishing, and other outdoor fun. There is a full RV hookup on the main site. There is another site but it is more secluded. A person can park their RV but there is no official hookup.

12. Big and Little Cottonwood Canyons

This campground is located near famous ski resorts and there are plenty of places to enjoy the outdoors and a hike. There may not be an electrical hookup at this camp but there are accommodations for RVs. This is good for people that want a rustic vacation but still want to be close to the downtown area.

These are some of the best places to go camping and some great RV parks near Salt Lake City. These sites will allow a person to enjoy nature and downtown too.
