The Best Spots in Yellowstone Park.

The Best Spots in Yellowstone Park.

The Yellowstone national park is a natural recreation area located in Wyoming, Montana. The park is situated on top of a volcano and is said to have been the first national park in the world. Packed with various kinds of ecosystems, wildlife, lush-green forests and geothermal wonders, such as the famous Old Faithful geyser, the park attracts millions of people every year, from around the world.

The Yellowstone Park is filled with countless amazing activities, but here’s a list of the best spots that you should visit in the Yellowstone National park;

1. The Old Faithful Geyser

The Old Faithful Geyser

It is one of the many geysers in the park; however, it is the most popular. The Old Faithful geyser erupts approximately in regular intervals of 90 minutes. Be sure to arrive 20 to 30 minutes before the expected erupting time, in order to be in the front row.

2. The Morning Glory Pool

The Morning Glory Pool

It is a hot spring in the upper geyser basin of the Yellowstone Park. It sometimes erupts like a geyser; however, what is striking about this spring is its mesmerizing color, which is due to the bacteria inhabiting the spring.

3. The Lamar Valley

The Lamar Valley

The valley is remotely located in the Yellowstone Park. However, it is definitely worth the drive. Once there, you will get to see thousands of wild bison roaming around and enjoy the beautiful view of the African-like landscapes.

4. The Grand Canyon of the Yellowstone

The Grand Canyon of the Yellowstone
The Grand Canyon Yellowstone is by far the best spot to visit. It is 39km long and has a maximum height of 370m. From there, you will have a great view of the Yellowstone River, as well as the Yellowstone Falls. Visit the Artist point to get the most of the exceptional view that canyon offers.

5. The Grand Prismatic Spring

 The Grand Prismatic Spring

It is the biggest natural spring in the United States and the largest in the world. Its amazing features have resulted in the spring becoming the most photographed landmark. The Grand Prismatic Spring is the epitome of mesmerizing natural wonder. It resembles a rainbow with its colorful appearance, which is a result of many layers of bacteria. One cannot claim to have visited Yellowstone Park if they didn’t visit the Grand Prismatic Spring.

6. The Mammoth Hot Springs

The Mammoth Hot Springs

It is a series of hot springs, but what is interesting about this is that from a far distance, it looks like a place filled with snow on the ground and the springs. The Mammoth area is packed with amenities like restaurants, a petrol station, shops, and restrooms. It is, therefore, the ideal spot to take a break from the sightseeing. Beware that this spot can get extremely hot during the summer season.

There are far more places and spots in the Yellowstone National Park that I have not motioned, but the ones I’ve mentioned are the absolutes “must-sees.” To see most of the sights mentioned above, dedicate at least two days of your trip to the Yellowstone National park, and you’ll always have an urge to visit more.

How to Make the Most of Your Visit to Yellowstone National Park?

Things to Do

Grand Canyon of Yellowstone- With its beautiful falls and amazing hiking this is a great choice being that is a little quieter than other areas. You can walk the trails or drive the rim to catch gorgeous sights and some wildlife.

Grand Prismatic Spring- A hot spot for visitors, so this a must to see. This large stunning and colorful spring will wow anyone coming to see it and being that it is one of the most photographed sights ever, it’s an obvious choice.

Old Faithful Geyser- This is a no brainer, this well-known sight is another extremely popular attraction and many people flock to see the geyser in action and you won’t be disappointed.

Lamar Valley- Another must-see on the list, especially if you love wildlife. The beautiful landscapes of the valley will remind you of the African Savannah’s that lead to gorgeous mountains. Tons of wildlife have been spotted here so this needs to be added to your to-do list.

Places To Stay

Canyon Lodge- With millions of dollars being put into renovations this would be a great choice for you and your family to stay at. With a cute cabin vibe, on-site dining and is centrally located near most of the best sightseeing you can’t go wrong. There is also hiking and bicycling you can enjoy too.

Old Faithful Inn- Located near the world-famous geyser, this is another great option. Facing the actual geyser basin, you can actually see the action from your room. Many renovations and updates have given the Inn a more updated feel as well.

Mammoth Hot Springs Hotel- Suitable for everyone, this hotel is on the grounds of the actual Mammoth springs. You won’t be far from beautiful sights and famous attractions.

Lake Lodge Cabins- With amazing views of Yellowstone Lake this is another great option. Quaint cabins near the lake and close to popular landmarks.

General Tips

Pack Accordingly- It can be very hot during the day and cooler at night, so make sure you pack the necessary clothes to be comfortable. Also, pack food and gas up your car before entering the park to avoid crowded gas stations inside the park.

Plan in Advance- Book your room and plan you’re itinerary far in advance to make sure you can do everything it is that you are wanting to. Your best prices will be better the further away you plan as well.

Pick Your Times- For the more popular sights, you can expect large crowds so if you are wanting to be able to see everything clearly go either early in the morning or in the evening. Most wildlife is out during the early hours as well.

Book a Tour- If you don’t want to drive yourself, you can book guided tours. This is helpful especially if you don’t know what you are looking for. The guides can give you all kinds of information which will make it easier for you to enjoy.

Go Out At Night- Of course, to see the landmarks it’s better to go during daylight hours but there are also spectacular night skies to be seen after the sun goes down. Bring binoculars and star gaze to enjoy unobstructed natural skies.
