Where is Domestic RV Refrigerator Reset Switch?

Where is Domestic RV Refrigerator Reset Switch_

Where is the Domestic RV refrigerator reset switch?

We all know what a refrigerator is, right? Well, aside from the fact that both the home refrigerator and RV refrigerator are able to keep things cold, the two are quite different.

In most cases, a standard refrigerator cools using a compressor. On the other hand, an RV refrigerator uses the force of gravity to maintain its functions. However, that’s beside the point.

I’m sure you have one question in mind while reading this article: Where is the domestic RV refrigerator reset switch?

  •  Let me start by saying that it’s not possible to reset your camper fridge simply by switching it on and off.
  • Each model of camper fridges tends to have a different placement of the reset button. However, the most common thing is that in most models the reset button is located inside the fridge.
  • Once you open the door, you will immediately see the button. This will help you troubleshoot your fridge in case of any technicalities.

I’m sure you still have a lot of questions that need answers especially when it comes to the performance of your RV refrigerator. If yes, then keep on reading for more helpful information on the same.

The answer to this question will depend on the RV you are using and the make of the refrigerator. All the same, I’ll make a few assumptions. Let’s assume that the camper refrigerator you are using is a two-way fridge. That means it can either run on 120-volt electricity or off a propane tank. Some old camper refrigerators can work on three-way. Meaning they can work on 12-volt electricity, 120-volt electricity, and a propane tank.

Start by checking that you do not have a blown circuit. When your fridge is working on the 120-volt electric circuit, its circuit is wired the same way as the electrical system in your home. Check the RV’s electrical compartment in case there’s a tripped circuit breaker. Turn it on to restart your fridge.

In case there are no tripped wires, my first guess will be the electrical refrigerator heating element has an issue. Or simply the refrigerator control board is faulty. You might just have to replace these parts or better yet take the camper to a qualified Rv technician for more help.

Why is my domestic fridge not working on gas?

This might sound lame but you can check if you’ve switched on the LP button first. In case you don’t know where it’s located, then you can keep on reading to find out how to switch on your fridge properly.

Next is you need to turn on the stove to verify that you have a strong steady flame. You should also remember to do an annual tune-up as it’s described in the owner manual for the refrigerator. Some of the issues that this tune-up will address include cleaning the propane jet, cleaning the igniter gap, and cleaning the burner tube among others.

It’s only when you’ve addressed these issues can you start suspecting expensive parts such as the igniter, gas valve, and PC board.

How to switch on my camper refrigerator?
Like I said earlier, the RV refrigerator operates differently than your standard refrigerator. So if you want to turn on your refrigerator, start by checking the liquid propane tank and turning on the gas flow. Next step is you open the refrigerator and look at the LP/AC switch.

If your RV is not plugged into an electrical connection, then you should turn on the LP settings. Afterward, set the desired temperature in the refrigerator then close the door. Remember that you should switch your fridge to AC when your RV is parked. That is by simply turning on the AC setting instead of the LP.

In Summary…
Well, there you have it! I know how important it is to have a camper fridge but you should also remember to maintain it. There’s no need to have a good refrigerator that doesn’t work effectively. Keep the above article in mind in case you have any issue with your fridge. If this article proofs to be helpful, then stick around for more information.
