How Much Does it Cost to rent an RV?

How much does it cost to rent an RV is a frequently asked question. This is because the cost is a major factor to consider before renting any type of vehicle.

To answer this question, I will start by saying that there is no specific price to rent an Rv. Why? This is because Rv cost usually depends on some factors which include:

1. Cost per night

The cost per night normally varies depending on some factors such as RV size and model. In most cases, night charges ranged from 79$ to 200$. So, if you pick a giant and classic RV you are going to be charged a lot.

2. Miles covered

This includes the number of miles you are going to cover on your trip or on your vacation. The more miles you cover the more you are likely to pay. Most RV charge between 34 cents to 45 cents per mile. If you are going to cover 600 and you are charged 34 cents per mile, you will, therefore, pay 204$.

3. Generator

RVs normally come with generators in most instances A generator is mostly used during summertime when the temperatures are normally hot for air conditioning. This means that during summer, the generator cost will be a bit higher.

4. Cost of kitchen utensils and beddings.

This includes dishes, frying pans, pots and all the beddings in general. Most RV rental companies provide these services which will incur some charges. But to save on cost you can come with your kitchen utensils and beddings.

Total charges then = cost per night+ number of miles covered+ generator cost + cost of kitchen utensils and beddings.

So if you spend 70$ on kitchen utensils and 55$ on a generator in a 600 miles trip and you are charged 34 cents per mile and you spend 5 nights and the cost per night is 100$, your total charges will be 829$.

HOW TO SAVE?

1. Carry your Kitchen Utensils and Beddings

If the RV rental company provide you with their utensils and beddings, you will be required to pay for this service. To save some few bucks, you can carry your own beddings’ and kitchen utensils.

2. Make Your Own Meals

An Rv is just like home. It has most of the things that a real modern home has. This includes the kitchen. So, instead of going to eat in a restaurant you can prepare your own meal. Trust me, cooking your own dishes is more economical as compared eating from a restaurant. You can save up to 20$ by doing this.

3, The distance to the campground

RVs normally charge up to 45 cents per mile. So if the campground or the state park you want to visit is far, you are definitely going to pay more. But if you choose a campground that is not very far you are going to pay less and thus save some money.

4. Choose your Campspot Wisely

This involves where you want to camp. Is it in a state park? or on a campground?. State parks are normally cheap. You can spend as little as 20$. But on the other hand, campgrounds with amenities are very expensive. You can pay 100$ or more.

5. Pick the Right RV for your family

Giant RVs are usually very expensive while small size RVs are relatively cheap. So, if you have a small family just go for a small Rv. Since camping is all about outdoor activities, some things like cooking can be done outside over the fire.

The above are some of the tips on how to save on Rv rental. Making your own meal, carrying your own beddings, dishes, and cookware plus picking a small size Rv that fits your family members.
